After that I turned my phone off. "Don't we have a test tomorrow in Biology?" I asked, desperate to make conversation. Before Jake could even reply, the power went out.
"Crap. Well might as well say we're going to bed so Mom will stop bugging us," Jake said. He picked up the walkie talkie and said,"Hey, Mom. Hazel and me are going to bed now,"
Soon after that the walkie talkie said,"Okay, but when we get out of here Hazel better not be pregnant."
We just sat there talking about school and friends for another hour or so when Jake said,"We need to huddle together for body warmth." OHMIGOSH OHMIGOSH OHMIGOSH!!!!!
"Okay, maybe in your coffin. You know because it's padded and it will keep warm longer," I said in a desperate attempt to be stuck together in a tight space.
"Yeah, you're probably right," he opened the lid." Ladies first," he said. I got in and he got in after me. It probably would not be a good idea to sleep in jeans in a coffin in the middle of winter so I got out and stripped down into my bra and underwear. Jake heard clothes dropping to the floor and asked, "What are you doing?"
"I'm taking my jeans off because their uncomfortable to wear in a coffin."
"Yeah," Jake said, "Good idea." I heard the sound of clothes that were not mine dropping to the floor.
"My shirt was kind of tight, also," I said rubbing my arms and getting into the coffin.
"Mine, too," Jake said climbing in after me. We hugged and cuddled together for warmth. Me in my bra and underwear, and Jake in his boxers. Soon after Jake and I fell asleep.
That was about the time I started to dream. I dreamt about swapping bodies with another person. Only it wasn't just any person. It was Jake. It was just a big flash of things so I can't go into detail. It was like seventeen years all in two hours, so of course it was a big flash of things.
When I woke up, either the power was still out or there was just no light in the storage room. I guessed the second one so I went to grab my cell phone when I remembered that I left it in the pocket of my jeans. I opened the coffin lid and stood up. Why were my feet so heavy? I guess that I just slept so long that it felt like I slept for a thousand years. I opened up my cell phone and turned it on. I used it as a light to look around the room. The coffin lid was closed and by the sound of it Jake was still asleep so I picked up my clothes and went upstairs, using my phone as a flashlight, because the power was still out.
Dawn had just broke through the pink clouds when I walked into Jake's bathroom and tried to put on my clothes. My shirt was way to tight. I took it back off deciding that I would go on a diet.
I went out and walked into Jake's room. I took one of his bathrobes off his shelf. I hope he wouldn't mind. I put it on and walked into Jake's bathroom. I splashed my face with water and looked up in the mirror.
That was about the time I started hyperventilating.
