Chapter II
I closed my vomit green locker and it made kind of a metallic thud. I saw Fido talking to Fidette, his girlfriend. She was in her usual pink cheerleading outfit. With that short skirt and top two sizes smaller even for her short petite size made me want to vomit and I'm pretty sure it would be the same color as the lockers, too. Coupled with the fact that her top said,"Flamingos" in bold pink letters wasn't helping, either.
After Fido was done talking to Fidette, he went for his locker. I followed him and I saw him twisting the combination lock for his vomit green locker identical to mine on the outside. Key word outside. On the inside were pictures of Fidette, his football team(But Fido wasn't in it. I wonder why.), and some painting of this prep with blond hair, pale skin, and a regular prepish wardrobe, and in the corner it was signed, "Juliet". Why was there a painting of "Juliet" in his locker if he was dating Fidette(whose real name is Missy)?
He closed his locker and it made the same metallic thud mine did. He turned and headed out of the school just like he did every day to walk home. I followed him with no question about turning back until he turned and entered the neighborhood of run-down apartments and shacks. I knew he walked home, don't get me wrong, I just didn't know he lived here. He walked up a street that needed to be paved better and began talking to himself. It was quite bazaar actually. "I wonder where Juliet is. I bet she's out fishing. It's nice she's finally getting the hang of it. I remember my first time. Taking lives is very hard the first time. But now I've gotten really good at it, and do it every day," he said in a change of voice.
There are two obvious things that are going on. First, he's talking about catching fish. I've never realized that he had a sensitive side. I'll have to remember that next time I yell at him. Second, he is obviously almost done with going though puberty, which explains the voice change.
Suddenly he started running really fast up a steep hill. I tried to keep up with him, but I was losing ground quick. I decided to slow down to a more healthier pace and follow him from there. He quickly veered to the left so I made sure I was in the shadows and kept following him. He slowed to a walk and headed up a pathway to a shack with all the windows broken out. Half the floor was rooted up and the wood on the shack was rotted and disheveled. He trotted into the shack while I stuck to the shadows. I could still see inside just fine. Inside was a girl who looked like Juliet from the painting in Fido's locker. She pecked him on the cheek and he took her hand with one of his(and compared to Fido's hand, hers was delicate and as small as a Barbie's) and with the other hand he caressed her cheek and moved up to her hair and said, "It's still fine to do that as long as you know we're just friends." He pecked her on the cheek.
Blushing, Juliet replied, "I know. It's because you like that Slits girl, right?" Her face slipped into a pout at the very end.
"Yes, and her name is actually Natalie. Not Slits. She hates it when people call her that. I don't want to hurt her, but people would be on to us if I suddenly got the hots for a Goth chick. Now let me go take a shower," he said walking off into another room.
My mouth fell open with a soft popping noise. A crush? On me? He was back out of the shower before I could think about it more.
His skin was paler and his hair looked thicker. He looked at Juliet and said, "Ready fellow vampire?" He took her hand.
Vampire? What? Is there a joke I'm missing here?
"Ready," Juliet said, a look of confidence appearing on her face. And before my very eyes, Fido and Juliet slowly got smaller until they were each a blob of white flesh. They got smaller and smaller and their skin turned black while they sprouted wings.
I watched as the two bats flew out of the shack and into the cold winter night. ^w^
